Grapevine is a band from Pittsburgh, PA that I just recently found out about. I met them at the Millennium Music Conference on Saturday Februarary 17, 2001, but didn't get to see them perfrom. I finally saw them in concert on March 2nd at Gullifty's, and again on March 30th at Nick's Fat City in Pittsburgh.

Grapevine is composed of members. Jean-Marc Azoury isings the lead vocals and plays guitar. Kevin McDonald plays guitar is sings backing vocals. Ken Pardiny is the bassist and sings backing vocals, and Chris Jamsion is the drummer.

Visit Grapevine's official site and check out their CD, which is titled "Star"! Listen to some tracks from "Star", as well as some of the new stuff!

My first trip to Pittsburgh, PA

On March 30, 2001, my mom, my sister Logan, and took a trip to Pittsburgh to see two of our favorite local (or not so local) bands, Grapevine and New Invisible Joy. It was kind of a spur of the moment trip. We decided Thursday night after receiving an e-mail saying that we could get in the bar. We left Friday around noon, and drove the 3 1/2 hours to Pittsburgh. We arrived in the south side around 3:30 or 4, and then checked into our hotel a little later (it would have been sooner if we hadn't gotten lost going across the bridge and ended up in "Squirrel Nut Zipper Land", or as others may know it, Squirrel Hill...and that wouldn't have been so bad if we had directions, a map, or any knowledge of the city...really, it was a nice scenic tour of the out-skirts of Pittsburgh...it was a fun adventure...) Later that night we went to Nick's Fat City and hear Grapevine. They sounded great! Seeing them in Camp Hill at Gullifty's, where not a lot of people knew who they were, was completely different than seeing them at Nick's Fat City, where everyone knew them. There were literally thousands of people who were all singing and dancing to their songs. It was wonderful!!! It was a perfect end to our first night in Pittsburgh.

We took some pictures Friday night at Nick's Fat City. Here they are!
